Bloggers For Peace

For my Bloggers For Peace entry, I have selected Rachelle Ferrell’s song “Peace On Earth” from her 1992 self-entitled debut release. It is one of my favorite songs by her and quite appropriate in these troubled times. Peace be with you.
Peace On Earth
How can we have peace in the Middle East
When there’s none at home?
How can we have understanding in the land
When there’s none in the woman and there’s none in the man?
How can we heal the wounds of the world
If we cannot heal our own?
And where does this peace on earth begin
If not in the home?
Where do we go now?
Do we let the devil win
Or do we get up and fight?
Surely we know how to conquer all our fear
Bring an end to the violence
Bring an end to the tears
How can we heal the wounds of the world
If we cannot heal our own?
And where does this peace on earth begin
If not in the home?
Well, there’s too much talk about it
And too many walk without it
Where is the love?
Where is the God in your life?
To my left a woman abuses her children
To my right somebody’s beating his wife
Tell me, where is the love?!!
Where is the God in your life?!!
How can we heal the wounds of the world
If we cannot heal our own?
And where does this peace on earth begin
If not in the home?

This song is beautiful. Thank you for posting the lyrics.
Also, in your honor I am wearing my Michael Bourne Jazz 88.3 WBGO T-shirt today. WBGO’s the NYC jazz station that I grew up listening to, and still do every day.

Thank you for listing the words to this song by Rachelle. I was just singing it to my meditation partner whose Parents live in Israel. She was in tears talking about 3 Arab men that hid behind a rock and were killed.
This song came to me to comfort her.
In meditation early this morning, (the sumpin told me)at first pray for President Bush that his heart is touched to call the world leaders to seize fire.
Then, (the sumpin told me) go within, cease fire within yourself for just 5 minutes.
I recommend that everyday, we take 5 minutes maybe at 12:00 noon to be silent and cease fire within ourselves. This vibration will ripple out to the universe and like story of the 100 monkeys and the peace within our homes, our hearts will make the difference on a much grander scale than our Leaders call for Peace.
War would not exist if it was not in the hearts of all people, not just those in the Middle East. We are all connected and the global consciousness manifests our collective beliefs. What would it look like for just those 5 minutes, if the whole world ceased fire within ourselves. IMAGINE AND IT WILL BE SO.
