BLIND BOYS OF ALABAMA CHRISTMAS SHOW “GO TELL IT ON THE MOUNTAIN” PRESENTED BY MONTEREY JAZZ FESTIVAL TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 30TH, AT 8:00PM IN CARMEL’S HISTORIC SUNSET CENTER
November 15, 2004; Monterey, California; The Monterey Jazz Festival will bring its Fall 2004 “Jazz at Sunset” concert season to a spectacular and festive close with The Blind Boys of Alabama Christmas Show, “Go Tell It On the Mountain”. The concert will take place at 8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 30th in Sunset Center in the heart of Carmel. The concert will give fans an opportunity to celebrate the start of the holidays with the Grammy winning Blind Boys of Alabama, featuring songs from the first holiday themed album in their 60-year history. As Rolling Stone commented, this concert appearance will offer “another stunning set of songs from Alabama’s finest, and more proof of gospel’s influence on R&B and Rock & Roll.”
Good seats are still available for the concert and are priced from $25 to $50. Patrons may purchase tickets online at montereyjazzfestival.org, by phone at 925/275-9255, or at the Sunset Center Box Office on the day of the concert, starting at 7:00 pm.
Jazz at Sunset partner, Inns of Monterey, is offering jazz fans a Jazz at Sunset Getaway, with special rates at Hotel Pacific, Spindrift Inn, Monterey Bay Inn or Victorian Inn. Patrons are invited to call for details (800/232-4141).
The November 30th concert marks the close of the inaugural “Jazz at Sunset” season, which saw the Monterey Jazz Festival returning to its roots. Sunset Center was the venue in which Festival founder Jimmy Lyons first presented jazz concerts on the Monterey Peninsula in the mid-1950’s. The Festival will launch its Spring 2005 “Jazz at Sunset” concerts on March 17th, with details to be announced.
