For the current and future Lizz Wright fans….
The much anticipated release of Lizz Wright’s debut Verve album “Salt” is scheduled for May 13, 2003. If this album is anything like her phenomenal performances on Joe Sample’s “Pecan Tree” album and at last year’s Monterey Jazz Festival, then it promises to be filled with a rich jazz, R&B, and gospel vocals laced with some funk. Tommy LiPuma will be producing the album. My wish would be to get an promo copy of her album to review.

Lizz was opening act at Jazzfest for Al Green. Al Greene was okay, but Lizz Wright was “WOW”! I went out and bought The Pecan Tree, the Joe Sample album she is guest vocalist on and marked May 13 on my calendar. Lizz and her quartet gave the best concert I have ever seen. Pure perfection!
