New releases dropped yesterday from René Marie (“Live At Jazz Standard“), and Regina Carter (“Paganini: After The Dream“).
Ledisi’s “Soulsinger: The Revival” album was released yesterday. Her original “Soulsinger” album has been remixed, repackaged and includes two additional tracks. It is distributed nationally by Tommy Boy Records. The CD release party will be held on Friday, May 2 at Bimbo’s 365 Club.
Standing in the Shadows of Motown was released on a 2 DVD set yesterday which includes additional footage of The Funk Brothers, the backbone of the Motown sound. Definitely a must have for your collection. Thanks Nita for the reminder.
Check out songwriting dynamo Cynthia Biggs. She crafted, along with Dexter Wansel, such gems as “The Sweetest Pain” for Loose Ends, “If You Only Knew” for Patti LaBelle, and “Nights Over Egypt” for The Jones Girls and Incognito. She has quite an impressive discography.
