Singer Kim Prevost and Virtuoso Guitarist Bill Solley Return to San Francisco for a Post-Katrina Concert

SONOMA, California (September 14, 2006)—They lost their home to Katrina, were evacuated for Rita and had to flee from Wilma. Husband and wife duo Kim Prevost and Bill Solley are happy to have 2005 behind them. The couple will perform for three night’s at Jazz at Pearl ’s October 6, 7, and 8, 2006. There will be two shows each night: one at 8 PM another at 10 PM. Tickets are $20 per person per show.

Kim Prevost’s vocals ooze smoky sensuality. She is an inspiring vocal improviser with a delivery both soaring and sultry, and with more than a hint of that special New Orleans flavor. Her range is amazing and her voice insinuates and then soars moving seamlessly from Duke Ellington to Stevie Wonder to Hoagy Carmichael. Meanwhile Bill Solley makes music that jumps and jives and then makes you cry with its pristine beauty. Solley’s musicianship is truly amazing, as he works melody, improvisations and baseline simultaneously with virtuosity and ardor on his trademark 7-string guitar. Their repertoire spans vibrant arrangements of jazz, blues, R&B and gospel favorites, with some lively originals, as well. The results are nothing short of astonishing.

Solley and Prevost burst upon the scene winning the 1999 Black Entertainment Television’s Vocal Jazz Discovery Award. The duo has worked with New Orleans legends Johnny Adams, Luther Kent and Allen Toussaint. They have more recently performed with artists as diverse as Bobby McFerrin, Arturo Sandoval and Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails.

JazzTimes Magazine reviews the duo’s work, “This kind of chemistry comes a lon g only once in a blue moon. Think Joe Pass and Ella Fitzgerald in their classic Pablo encounter of the early 70s . . . with a modernist spin.” New Orleans ’s Gambit Weekly says, “Individually, they are both tremendous talents, as a team they are the perfect complement of harmony, rhythm and emotion.”

Kim Prevost and Bill Solley will perform at Jazz at Pearl’s located at 256 Columbus Ave. (at Pacific) on Friday, October 6, Saturday, October 7 and Sunday, October 8, 2006. There are two shows nightly, one at 8 PM another at 10 PM. Cost is $20 per person, per show. Ticket information is available at Pearl ’s (800) 838-3006.
